How do I translate foreign documents?
If you need a translation for an official body such as a court, a notary or an administration, the latter may require that the translation be done by a sworn translator. These are official documents such as judgments, citations, wills, statutes, certificates, contracts... A sworn translator is appointed by the general assembly of a court or a court of appeal. The documents he translates have legal validity.

Can Google translate entire documents?
To translate your website into another language, free online machine translation tools like Google Translate seem like an attractive solution. These tools are fast, free and easy to be used 24/7. But despite these advantages, free translation tools can hurt your search engine ranking. Google doesn't like them. Its goal to translate the general idea of a document and it doesn't really care if it sounds flat or excellent. It does its part - and that's it.

Free online machine translation tools allow you to translate your website into many languages, including uncommon languages and regional dialects. However, the translations these online tools offer are often inaccurate. Online translation tools may seem more impressive than ever, but Google Translate and its equivalents ignore cultural context and common expressions and idioms. This makes translations inaccurate at worst, and ineffective at best. It is for this reason that we work with native translators for each of our translations. Thanks to their knowledge of real language habits, our team can translate any message to Bulgarian without sacrificing the meaning.

If you translate the content using a free machine translation tool, the result will be a literal, word-for-word translation. Without the presence of idioms and common local expressions, the result will probably be the content meaningless to your local audience. On the other hand, free machine translation tools don't always recognize proper nouns or spelling mistakes, which will further confuse readers of the content. If readers and potential customers have trouble reading the content on your site, you risk a lack of trust on their part and thus lose potential customers. Do you think a customer would like to buy after reading such a translation? Right! So we don't recommend it unless it's absolutely necessary.

How can I translate a legal document?
When the translation of a document must be legalised (according to the law and suitable to use in another country) or when it accompanies a foreign language document presented for legalisation, it must comply with the following procedures:

  • It must be done by a translator sworn in by a court of law, or by a translator authorized by a diplomatic or consular representation abroad; the original document must itself comply with the legalisation;
  • The original document and its translation must bear the translator's stamp and signature, as well as the same translation number (identical to both documents).

A sworn translation is mandatory to transmit an official administrative document from one country to another. This can concern procedures related to a sale, a death, a change of nationality, an adoption, studies abroad... The sworn translation, also called certified translation, is an official translation performed by a sworn translator, approved by a court of law. This translation is confidential and valid for all authorities and administrations of the country in which you do the translation.

How much should you pay a translator? How much is a translation service?
The price of a translation depends on many factors: complexity and technicality of the content to be translated, the language pair concerned, volumes and delivery times, repetitions in the content, etc. Why and how do these elements impact the translation prices?

Language: the limited availability of trusted professional translators available in certain linguistic pairs has a significant impact on the price of translation. Specific pricing sets apart some oriental languages (Chinese, Japanese, Indonesian, Thai, Arabic, Turkish, Hindi, Russian, Hebrew...), African languages (Oromo, Somali, Amharic, Malagasy, Swahili...) and some European languages (Dutch, German, Finnish, Slovak, Norwegian and Swedish...) from common linguistic pairs (English–French, German–Spanish, English–Italian, French–Portuguese...).

Specialty: highly specialized and field-specific texts (medicine, marketing, legal, financial documents, accounting, life science, etc.) and technical content (energy, oil, IT, food industry...) are supported by highly specialized translators. The rates charged vary according to the field of specialization, availability of professional translators or even the niche in question (for example, Bulgarian certification translation or Bulgarian financial translation).

Urgency: significant price changes may be applied for the delivery time with a word volume ratio to translate exceeds 1,500/2,000 words per day. Surcharges also apply if the task includes overtime on weekends, public holidays, or evenings, a last-minute booking of an interpreter, the delivery of a translation in less than 24 hours.

Format: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and HTML files usually have no price impact. The processing of unwritten (audio and video recordings) or handwritten content, the translation from non-editable documents (PDF, JPG, AI...), the production and integration of subtitles or voice-over, DTP operations are subject to ad hoc pricing.

Options: specifications play a noticeable role in preparing the estimate, particularly if you want to benefit from services besides the translation of a text (proofreading by a third party, localization, dubbing, etc.). Depending on the case, additional services may be subject to dedicated pricing, a flat rate or a revaluation of the basic unit price.

The Bulgarian people and language overview
Bulgaria is a country in South East Europe. It is bordered by Romania to the north, the Black Sea to the east, Turkey and Greece to the south, and Macedonia and Serbia to the west. The surface area of Bulgaria is 110 994 km², equivalent to countries such as Honduras (112 090 km²) and Liberia (111 370 km²). Sofia, its capital, is the largest city. Bulgarian speakers belong to the South Slavic group along with Croatian, Serbian, Macedonian, Bosnian, Montenegrin and Slovenian. Bulgarian forms, together with Macedonian, which is very closely related to it, the eastern group of Slavic languages of the Indo-European family. In the region, Kosovo and Albania are not Slavic-speaking countries.

In contrast, Czechs, Moravians, Poles, Serbs and Slovaks belong to the Western Slavs, while Russians belong to the Eastern Slavs along with Belarusians, Ukrainians and Ruthenians. Bulgarian-speaking communities also live in Bulgaria's neighboring countries, such as Ukraine, Moldova, Macedonia, Romania, Greece and Turkey, as well as in the western province of Serbia, and smaller communities in many other countries around the world, with a total of 8 to 10 million speakers. Like Russian, Bulgarian uses Cyrillic characters and is very similar to Macedonian. Although Bulgarian assimilated elements of Greek and Turkish over the centuries, it differs only slightly from other Slavic languages.
